Hi!
Thanks for the fix. I reinstalled and it seemed like a success until the last step: I now get "Error: IO Error: file 'conf/bitbake.conf' not found" when trying to run "bitbake mc1233x-tests".
I have very limited knowledge in Linux and I cannot be sure if I just did something wrong during the installation (my local Linux tech support person is currently not available). But I report this anyway to let you know.

I've just pushed two new changes. The first updates the oe and bitbake modules to versions that work (we are behind oe by a few revisions as the most recent commits are broken). This includes the patch that should fix the Ubuntu problem.
The second change defines BBHOME instead of using HOME which will allow you to change the path more easily.
