I'm able to build the tests without problem so it is probably a toolchain issue.

I built the toolchain in a different directory too and I have this on my path:
/home/apps/mc1322x-oe/tmp/cross/armv4t/bin

Once you get a good toolchain you shouldn't have any more problem.
Building the toolchain has always been the weakest link. I tried three
toolchains before getting one to work reliably. The OE toolchain
worked for me, it just took a long time to build.
